Overview

Following XJTLU’s exciting and innovative Syntegrative Educational Model, this programme is an equal collaboration between the University and its industry partner, Eolane, at the School of Internet of Things in XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang).

The Internet of Things refers to a highly integrated and comprehensive application of the new generation of information technology. It has become a driving force for technological revolution and industrial transformation around the world, and is a key engine for economic, social, green, intelligent and sustainable development. The Internet of Things is increasingly everywhere, and studying a range of topics including; computer networks, sensor technology, and control technology, as well as artificial-intelligence-related topics such as programming, data structure, machine learning, and pattern recognition; this programme will equip you with the skills needed to succeed in an astonishing range of industries.

Knowledge and skills

By the time you graduate from the BEng Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering programme, you will have:

  • an understanding of the basic theories of computer science and technology, electronic engineering, circuit and electronic technology, and wireless sensor networks
  • skills in Internet of Things design, research, use, maintenance and management
  • the ability to acquire, store, retrieve and process system information; systematically grasp information methods, sensory positioning technology, and intelligent data analysis methods in physical systems; and conduct computer network research and engineering technology application in computer, communications, automation and electronics
  • industry knowledge of smart cities and the Internet of Things' role in their development
  • comprehensive knowledge of entrepreneurship and leadership, project management and innovation concepts and how to apply them in a practical setting
  • high-level communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skills that are transferable across a range of careers and industries.

Careers

Graduates from this programme are well prepared for careers in for technical, managerial and leadership roles in areas such as technology research and development in China and internationally. Graduates may find employment in technical, managerial or electronic engineering roles in the emerging industries related to the development of smart cities. This programme also provides a solid foundation for further studies or a career in research.
